NHA TRANG
Nha Trang is a coastal resort city in Central-Southern Vietnam, which focuses a lot in tourism. It is famous for its beaches, diving spots, and offshore islands.
Things to Do
1. The Nha Trang Beach. Nha Trang has a 6km long beach, and most of the time water is clear, especially June to October. You will see local people start working out or jogging from as early as 5am, some merchants selling fruits during daytime and lobsters during the night. The beach is open to public all day long and it's the best place for the locals to chill too.
2. Long Son Pagoda. Built in 1886 and moved to current location after devastating typhoon in 1900. You can easily get there by taxi and it is open to public and opening hours are not limited. After climbing 193 steps to the top, you will see the white giant Buddha situated on an enormous lotus. It is an iconic symbol of Nha Trang. On the journey to the summit, you will also see the marble statue of Buddha. Link.
3. Ponagar Cham Towers. It is about 2km from the central of Nha Trang city to the north. It is located on Cu Lao Hill and adjacent to Cai River, which gives visitors a beautiful scenery with the harmony of mountain and river. Link
4. Hon Chong Promontory. Located about 4km northeast away from Nha Trang city center. Granted by Mother Nature a mysterious beauty, it is one of the most photographable sites and was a filming site for French movie 'The Lover' in 1992. Opening hours are 0600-1800. You will see some tour groups here as it is also the famous spot for domestic tourism. When the sun starts to set, it becomes a dating spot for couples. Link.
5. Christ The King Cathedral. Classic Gothic-style stone church in Nha Trang city which was built between 1928-1933. Due to its higher sea level, you may have a view of Nha Trang city view and if you come in the morning, there is very high chance that you can take plenty of beautiful pictures with the church.
6. Nha Trang Four Island Tour. Islands hopping is always a good choice for tourists. It literally means hopping between your chosen four islands among Hon Mun, Hon Tam, Hon Mieu, Hon Tre, and Hon Mot. At these islands, you can do many activities such as sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling, sightseeing, or water activities like parasailing. Tours can normally also be arranged with local travel agencies or even your accommodations.
7. Vinpearl Land Nha Trang. An integrated entertainment destination, with water park, amusement park, Ferris wheel, resorts and golf courses. You may get there by cable car or speed boat. Cable car is more convenient, affordable, and view is better from the top. You can just get ticket from the Vinpearl ticketing center in Nha Trang city center. Link.
8. Mud Spa. Mud spa is the signature of Nha Trang that plenty of spas and hotels have the facilities. Thap Ba Spa is popular among tourists as it is sophisticated. The dedicated spa provides services including spa, mud bath, massages, and swimming pool. Link. Galina Hotel is also a good choice that has mud bath facility in the property. The hotel is just conveniently located at the center of the city, and with walking distance to the beach.
Accommodation
Nha Trang is a small city and most of the hotels are located at the center and near the beach. You may choose your accommodations according to your budget and just make sure it is not far from town or beach. The coastline with best sea views are normally occupied by five star hotels by international brands.
Transport
Airport in Nha Trang is Cam Ranh International Airport, 30km south of the city. There are domestic flights from Da Nang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City and international flights from Seoul, Korea and some major cities in China. There are train services between Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Hue. You can purchase ticket from the official railway website. For travellers on budget, sleeper bus is the ideal option. There is overnight bus services from Ho Chi Minh City and services from other destinations such as Da Nang, Hue, and Mui Ne. Within the city you can just walk as the city is small. But if you need to go to somewhere farther, taxis are also easily accessible.
Best Time to Travel
Dry season is from January to August. It is warm and humid and is perfect for activities such as island-hopping, surfing, swimming, snorkelling, and Scuba diving. Wet season is from September to December. You should expect heavy rainfall or rather thunderstorms and typhoons during this period.
